Catchin' Up

Wow!  It has been a busy week.  My husband asked me last night, “Have you blogged this week?”  My response, “Um, nope!”  So I figured I should let you know some things that have been happening around our household.

Week One of the cleaning schedule was a success!  Did you download my schedule?  If not, be sure to do so, it’s in my previous post.  I found that cleaning went by A LOT faster, for me anyway, if it was broken into chunks, and done daily.

I also created a large floor pillow (with the help of my mother-in-law) for Baby Boy!  I must say it was much simpler than I thought it was going to be.  I found the idea on Pinterest, but I couldn’t find clear directions on how to make it.  So I thought, “How does it look like she made it?”  (Just so you know, it took me about 3 hours to make this.)

Off to JoAnn’s Fabric I went.  I purchased:
1 no-sew fleece blanket kit
3 bags of Poly-fill

This was my end result.  I am happy!  Plus Baby Boy and the kitties approve of it.

I also decided that I needed to get back into my regular routine of eating for one, I did have Baby Boy on October 30th.  I gained 43 pounds while pregnant.  I lost 26 pounds within my first two weeks postpartum.  Then I stopped.  Talk about a slap to the ego!

So I did some research…looked into joining Weight Watchers again.  Then I thought, “We’re down to a single income.  We can’t afford for me to count points and buy my own food.”  Then like and answered prayer, a friend on Facebook posted about this new free “diet book” she was reading.  When she said that it was free- I was like, “I’ve got nothing to lose- well, except extra lbs.”  It’s called, The Eden Diet.  I was curious about it, downloaded it to my Kindle, and read it.

OMG!  Eating and losing weight made simple!  The book is now $7.69 in the Kindle Store.  It's totally worth the money…and totally worth the time to read.  Dr. Hancock is a Christian doctor, with the belief that you can eat anything you want and still lose weight.  She starts off her book with a 7-day challenge, which I have to say works.  I lost 5 pounds this past week.  I’m telling you, what she writes- makes a whole lot of sense.  Come on, do you think you can do a simple 7-day challenge?  This housewife thinks you can!

Cleaning Schedule

I’ve had some requests to share my weekly cleaning schedule that I created.  I am more than happy to share with you!  I created this schedule because for the last five years of my life, I made lesson plans of how I wanted my week to go in my classroom.  I thrived off of these plans!  I would check them several times throughout the day to make sure I was teaching and covering everything I wanted to for the day/week.

When my husband and I made the decision for me to stay home with our baby boy, I thought, “Wow!  I’ve had a set routine for the last five years…what am I going to do?”  Well...I did what I have always done- I created a plan for the week.  My plan is based off of our home.  I didn’t include running the dishwasher because we run a light load every night- Baby Boy can go through bottles like they’re going out of style.   I’ve also learned that we may have some extra laundry loads…have I mentioned we have a baby? J

I’ve included a spot to write our dinners down and a place for special notes.  (By this I mean if Hubby is going to be late, baby has a doctor appointment, Mommy gets a night out with friends.)  I thought it would be nice for us to see this reminder through out the week.  I think I’m the only one who actually uses the calendar we have hanging in the kitchen.

I hope you find this schedule useful…if you have any questions, let me know!

New Years Resolutions...I don't keep them

Hello!  Welcome to my blog: that housewife with that baby.  This is my first attempt at blogging, and I thought it was a neat thing to try out with the New Year upon us.  I hope to share thoughts, ideas, and fails at being a first time mother.  I hope to share more about myself as I blog; but tonight I want to share with you my goals for 2014.  No resolutions, I never keep them.  I hope these goals inspire you to set goals for yourself!

1. Drink more water

2. Read 30 books (remember, I do have a baby!)
