Well,
here we are, half way through 2014.  Can
you even believe it?  I can’t.  Time sure does fly by; especially when you
have a little one around.  I’d love to
stop the clock and enjoy these sweet moments even more than I already am.
I
wrote my first ever post 6 months ago today.
I said that I was going to set forth some goals for this New Year; so
here I am.  I’m writing today to keep
myself accountable with the goals I set back in January.  I wanted to let you know how I’m doing, where
I’m succeeding and where I still need some improvement.
Here’s
what I set at the beginning of 2014:
1. Drink more water
Well, I’m still working on this.  I try to drink as much water as I can.  I really struggle with drinking water when we
are able to go out to eat.  I LOVE sweet
tea, and I am known to drink a soda or two.
This is still a work in progress.
2. Read 30 books (remember, I
do have a baby!)
I have read 17 books so far
this year.  I’m almost done with my 18th.
3. Give to a charity-
monthly (I'm still thinking on this- St. Jude or an animal shelter are at the
top of my list.)
I have given money to various
things: mission trips, anonymous donations.
I have decided on what charity I’ll be donating to.  I’m going to donate to GRRAND (Golden Retriever Rescue and Adoption of Needy Dogs).  I’ll be sending them a check at the end of
the year.
4. Stick to the cleaning
schedule I created
This comes and goes.  Some weeks I’m great at sticking with
it.  Some weeks I can clean the whole
house in a day.  Some weeks…well, let’s
just say I can get a lot cleaned if I know company will be over in the next
half hour.
5. Keep a gratitude journal
FAIL,
FAIL, FAIL.  I did great keeping this until February 27th.  After that- I don’t know what happened.
6. Pay it forward at least
twice a month
I have not done this.  I’m not eating out as much as I was when we
had two incomes.  This is something I
hope to do once we start eating out a little more.
7. Calendar Journal
Another FAIL.  I kept this up until February 27th.  I realized that my days were all looking
alike, and there wasn’t anything exciting going on.  I’m thinking that will change since Little
Boy is crawling…and getting into everything!
I’m thinking I might just journal about my day…I don’t know.
8. Exercise 30-45 minutes 5x
a week
This is much easier now that
the weather is nicer.  I’m walking 3-4
miles a day around our neighborhood.
Some weeks I rock this; I will get in 6-7 walks.  Some weeks I don’t walk at all.
9. Blog
This is post number 18.  I think I’m doing all right.
10. Scatter Kindness
I have found that since I am
no longer working; it’s hard to be negative.
It’s a lot easier to find the good in everyday.  I hope that when I meet people they think I’m
kind.  I don’t know if I’m succeeding at
this or not- I guess you would have to be the judge of that!
